		<description>Thus far, this looks like it has helped. In my case, I wanted both sound cards to work but for it to default to my PCI card as apposed to onboard. The reason for this is so that I can use Mixx ( a DJ Audio Mixer). And use the onboard just for monitoring a track for the purpose of mixing. 

What was happening  before I added &#039;options snd_hda_intel index=1&#039; 
was that sometimes it would select my PCI card as the default audio device, and other times, the onboard audio (hda_intel)
Which for the purpose of doing a live show, would have been frustrating, as it was taking me about half an hour of messing around each time for it to use my desired config. 

So your near on year old post was not in vain.
