Ah good question. For myself, I don't have the YP-P2 in MTP mode. I switched it to a UMS device (ie just like any normal usb storage device).

I had to re-flash the firmware on my YP-P2. It wasn't that scary an affair. Re-flashing it allows you to turn it from an MTP device to a UMS one. I prefer this in general anyway.

This thread should be of help: <a href="http://www.yjzone.net/showthread.php?t=1897" rel="nofollow">http://www.yjzone.net/showthread.php?t=1897</a>

You should then be able to get videos on it easily. For music, it works fine with Banshee. For Rhythmbox you can add a file to the root of the YP-P2, to tell Rhythmbox where to dump music (when you copy music to it via Rhythmbox). I'll have a look on mine later to see if the file is still there (I've forgotten how it was).

Hi Rob. Further to your and Ryans comments on ensuring the P2 is mounted, do you have any advice for that?
When I was using HardyH, the mtpfs command seemed to work sporadically. Since I've been using Jaunty - no luck at all. If I could just get the thing mounted/recognised, I can then follow your conversion suggestions :) Cheers.

Another tip, I use iriverter with the following definition file (yp-p2.config) to convert the video:
###
brand=Samsung
device=YP-P2
maxVideoBitrate=512
maxAudioBitrate=128
dimensions=480x272
maxFrameRate=30
wrapperFormat=avi
audioFormat=mp3
###

Works fine.

Thank you for this useful linux work for the P2.

It probably goes without saying, that the device needs to be mounted for the nautilus script to fully play out. Nevertheless, I missed that detail the first time around. I waited for some file to show up under my home directory, to which I figured I would have to manually move to the device.
